To rent a car, you'll need a valid driver's license, typically held for at least one year. Most rental companies require you to be at least 21 years old, though some may have higher age limits or charge a "young driver fee" if you're under 25. You’ll also need a credit or debit card for payment and deposit purposes. Some international rentals may require an International Driver’s Permit (IDP) along with your home country license.
he cost of renting a car varies based on several factors, including the type of vehicle, rental duration, and location. On average, you can expect to pay between £30 to £100 per day for standard economy or compact cars. Larger vehicles, like SUVs or luxury models, may range from £80 to £200 or more per day. Additionally, rental prices may be higher during peak tourist seasons, and costs at airport locations can include extra fees. It's advisable to shop around and book in advance to secure the best deals.
Yes, you typically need insurance when renting a car, but the type of coverage depends on your situation. Many rental agencies offer insurance options like a Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) or Loss Damage Waiver (LDW), which limit your liability in case of damage or theft. However, if you already have personal auto insurance or coverage through your credit card, you may not need to purchase additional coverage from the rental agency. It’s important to check with your insurance provider or credit card company to see what’s covered before deciding.
Yes, you can rent a car with a debit card, but policies vary by rental company. While many agencies accept debit cards, some may require additional identification or impose restrictions, such as holding a larger deposit. It's essential to check the specific terms and conditions of the rental agency before booking. Additionally, using a debit card might limit your vehicle options compared to using a credit card, which is generally preferred by most rental companies. Always confirm with the rental provider to avoid any issues at pickup.
