Getting the best from a chilled van
- Pre-cool it. Run the fridge with the doors shut before loading, so the load area is at temperature when the food goes in.
- Load cold, keep it cold. A fridge van holds temperature; it is not built to chill warm food down. Load from a chilled kitchen or cold store.
- Leave the air moving. Do not stack against the evaporator or block the floor channels; cold air needs to circulate.
- Doors shut, quickly. Every minute open at a venue is warm air in. Plan the unload before you open up.
- Check before you go. Note the temperature reading at collection and at each stop if you keep records for food safety.

Do I need a special licence?
No. The refrigerated Sprinter is a 3.5 tonne van, so a standard UK category B car licence covers it.
Does the fridge run when the engine is off?
Tell us how long the van will stand at the venue and we will confirm what the unit on your van does and how to manage a long stop.
Can I hire it for a single day?
Yes. Weddings and one-day events are the most common fridge van hires. Weekend dates in summer go first, so book early.
Is there a deposit?
Yes. A refundable security deposit is held on a card at collection and released after the van is returned and checked. We confirm the amount when you enquire.
Can you deliver the van to my kitchen?
Across West Lothian for most hires, and further afield for hires of a week or more; ask when you enquire.
