The Ford Transit Custom is the most hired van at Euro Hire Drive, and for good reason: it carries a one-bedroom flat or a full day’s tools, drives like a large car, parks in a normal space, and comes in both manual and automatic. We run a fleet of them from our depot at 5A Grange Road, Houstoun Industrial Estate, Livingston, by the day, the weekend, the week and the month, with flexi, long term and contract hire for anything longer.
Three seats in the cab, a side loading door, around six cubic metres behind the bulkhead and a payload of about a tonne. It drives on a standard category B car licence.

Transit Custom hire for trades and businesses
The Transit Custom is the default trade van across West Lothian and Edinburgh: plumbers, electricians, joiners and fit-out crews hire them from us as a second van for a contract, a replacement while theirs is in the garage, and on contract hire when a fleet grows. Crew cab versions carry five. Business accounts are billed monthly.

What fits in a Transit Custom
A one-bedroom flat in one careful load: a double bed and mattress, a two-seater sofa, a wardrobe, a small dining set and twenty to thirty boxes. For trades, a full tool kit, a bathroom suite or a kitchen’s worth of units. A washing machine and a fridge freezer stand upright with room to spare. If the sofa is a three-seater or the flat is a two-bed, step up to a long-wheelbase Sprinter or Crafter; if it is a single room, the small van is easier. The van size guide compares all of them.
Who hires the Transit Custom

What you need to hire one
- A photocard driving licence held for at least two years; drivers aged 23 to 70.
- A DVLA licence check code from the last 21 days, or your National Insurance number.
- Two proofs of address dated within the last three months, one a bank or card statement.
- A card in the driver’s name for the refundable security deposit.
VAT, insurance for the named driver, mileage and UK breakdown cover are included; mileage is limited on one to three day hires and the excess can be reduced with a collision damage waiver.

Can I hire one for a single day?
Yes. The minimum hire is 24 hours, and a weekend hire runs from Friday afternoon to Monday morning.
Can you deliver it?
Yes, across West Lothian for most hires and further afield for hires of a week or more.
Can a second person drive?
Yes, additional drivers can be added for a small charge, subject to the same age and licence checks, and they must be present at collection.
What if I need it longer?
Call the depot on 01506 444455 before the hire ends and we can usually extend it over the phone.
