Availability of automatics changes with the fleet; tell us you need an automatic when you enquire and we will confirm what is available for your dates. Our automatic Ford Ranger pickup and most of the car fleet are automatic too.
Why choose an automatic van
- City traffic. Edinburgh’s bypass at five o’clock and Glasgow’s M8 junctions are easier without a clutch.
- A full load. Hill starts with a tonne in the back are where automatics earn their keep; Edinburgh has plenty of hills.
- Automatic-only licences. If your licence is automatic-only, an automatic van is the only van you can hire, and we have them.
- Long days. Couriers and delivery drivers doing a hundred stops a day are less tired in an automatic.
What you need to hire one
- A photocard driving licence held for at least two years; drivers aged 23 to 70. Automatic-only licences are accepted.
- A DVLA licence check code from the last 21 days, or your National Insurance number.
- Two proofs of address dated within the last three months, one a bank or card statement.
- A card in the driver’s name for the refundable security deposit.
VAT, insurance for the named driver, mileage and UK breakdown cover are included; mileage is limited on one to three day hires.
Automatic van hire questions
Can I hire an automatic van on an automatic-only licence?
Yes. A category B automatic licence covers any automatic van up to 3.5 tonnes, which is every van we hire.
Is there an automatic Luton?
Not at the moment. The Sprinter XLWB automatic is the largest automatic on the fleet and carries most of what a Luton does; tell us the job and we will advise.
Can you deliver an automatic van?
Yes, across West Lothian for most hires and further afield for hires of a week or more.
Can I hire for a single day?
Yes. The minimum hire is 24 hours; weekend hire runs from Friday afternoon to Monday morning.
Are automatics available on long term hire?
Yes. Long term, flexi and subscription hire can all be specified as automatic.
